HISTORY OF Child Rescue Centre

C.R.C started in September 2004. Mr. Nelson gathered 20 friends who are Kenyan nationalities and sold his ideas to them A GOOD number of this people got interested and all formed a committee immediately to look into the moderities of starting a home. The committee immediately embarked on vigorous fact finding mission within the slum and charitable institution in the major towns in Kenya. They also visited the government children department for more research and information.

What followed was a series of meetings by the committee and in conclusion passed to start the children’s home in the name Child Rescue Centre. A constitution was drawn and office bearers were elected to start the process of registration. A budget was made which so the committee members required to pay an amount of money to facilitate the process.

C.R.C was officially registered on 14th October 2003 with the department of Social Services in Thika. After registration members decided to rent a house for four children who needed shelter food and medication. At this stage we faced many challenges and difficulties because some more other members had fallen out living only nine determined members who contributed financially and many other materials like beds, pans, tables washing basins, cookers, food e.t.c were brought by the founder members from their own houses.

In late 2004 C.R.C. received two Dutch ladies who worked as volunteers, one stayed for two weeks and the other one stayed for three months they really supported C.R.C. financially and materially and later worked as contact person in the Netherlands for a short time.

In early 2005 due to increase of children C.R.C. shifted from the small apartment in phase 13 makongeni estate to big house in Kenya Extract quarters.

Now the home is still growing and has its own land where it’s building its own home and has also been registered as an International N.G.O under the following names CHILD RESCUING CENTRE INTERNATIONAL

And has friends in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Brazil, U.S.A. Uganda, Tanzania & Ghana. C.R.C. is currently run by a board of directors

with donations from volunteers and well wishers from all over the world
