| Kevin Ochieng (10/12/2001) Kevin
was abandoned by his parents in the hospital. Because nobody knew his
name, the nurses named him Kevin. The Thika Children’s Officer took custody
of him and directed Kevin to CRC.
Kevin is a strong, bright and cheerful child. He enjoys every bit of attention
to the fullest. That probably is the reason why his English vocabulary
is already that extended.

| Mary Mary Nekesa (05-09-2002) CRC
found Mary in the streets of one of the Thika slums, where she had been
abandoned by her parents. After three weeks of recovering in a hospital
she came to CRC. There was nobody who knew anything about her background.
Despite all of this, Mary is a sweet little girl, who likes puzzling and
dancing with the older girls.

| John Gachuhi Macoma (28-05-2000) He is the small brother to Jane Muthoni (big Jane). She was born in the year 2000 in a slum called Gachagi meaning a small village in Kikuyu which is also their mother tongue.
Both their parents died of HIV/AIDS complications hence left with their auntie who is also HIV positive. As a result John could not attend school because he was so weak and sick suffering from TB and malnutrition whereas Jane the big sister could not attend school due the problems they had. The CRC management and volunteers during their usual visits in the slums identified John and his elder sister Jane, Wagikuyu and her auntie immediately rescued them that’s the small ones Jane and John. The uncle took the big girl Wagikuyu.
Now John and Jane are part of the CRC big family, happy, healthy and going to school.

| Jane Muthoni She is the big sister to John Gachuhi (small john). She was born in 1996 in a slum called Gachagi meaning a small village in kikuyu which is also their mother tongue.

| Lucy Muthoni (23-10-1999) Lucy
was physically assaulted by her stepmother and biological father. Because
of this her caretakers were jailed and Lucy was brought to CRC by the
children´s officer. Here, she flourished and became a cheerful and affectionate
girl, who likes to sing and swing all day long.

| Jane Wangui (14-02-1997) Jane
was refered to CRC by the St. Patrick’s school administration. Both parents
died of HIV/AIDS complications. She was staying with her grandmother in
a tiny house in the Kiandutu slums. Her grandmother is too poor and too
old to take good care of Jane. When she arrived in CRC, Jane was traumatised
and malnourished. Now, she is a happy girl who is a good help to the house
mothers.

| Ann Njoki (15-03-1998) Ann
and her siblings became orphans after both parents died of HIV/AIDS. CRC
took her out of the Kiandutu slums and gave her the opportunity to go
to school. When her sister Cynthia got sick, she also came to live in
CRC. Ann is a smart and pretty girl, who likes joking. She always takes
care of her younger sister.

| Cynthia Wambui (15-04-2000) Cynthia
is Ann’s sister. She came to CRC after both parents died of HIV/AIDS and
her grandparents were not able to take care of her anymore.
Cynthia is very eager to learn and knows what she wants.

| John Muiruri (10-01-1998) John
is the first born in a family of three. He has a brother Stephen and a
sister Mary. Before he came to CRC he was living with his grandmother,
who is brewing the local illegal alcoholic drink (kumi kumi). John and
his uncle Patrick were sent into the streets at night to sell the drink.
Nowadays John is doing very well at school. At CRC he likes to take care
of the rabbits, dogs and the chicken. He’s got a good sense of rhythm
and likes tot drum on the table.

| Patrick Mburu (02-01-1998) Patrick
was brought to CRC by the church together with his nephew John. For both
of them the fear existed that they would grow up in the streets, because
Patrick’s mother was brewing local illegal beer which they had to sell.
Patrick is a sweet boy who has his quiet moments. He is caring and protective
towards the new and small children of CRC. Besides that, he likes to make
jokes.

| Dorcas Wanjiru (16-07-1994) Together
with her two brothers, Grisson and Paul, and her sister Beth, Dorcas was
one of the first children taken in by CRC. CRC had tot take them in, because
their mother was terminally ill and couldn’t take care of her children
anymore. Unfortunately their mother died on 27 September 2005. Their father
already passed away some years ago. Dorcas experienced a lot of hardship
when living in the slums. She was working as a house maid and got paid
Ksh 10 a day which was used to buy food for her siblings. CRC gives her
the opportunity to be a child again. She enjoys going to school, singing
and playing with the other children.

| Beth Ngonyo (26-01-1997) Together
with her two brothers, Grisson and Paul, and her sister Dorcas, Beth was
one of the first children taken in by CRC. CRC had tot take them in, because
their mother was terminally ill and couldn’t take care of her children
anymore. Unfortunately their mother died on 27 September 2005. Their father
already passed away some years ago. Beth experienced a lot of hardship
when living in the slums. Now she’s living in CRC, she’s become a cheerful
girl who is a good dancer. She is happy to go to school and although she
was a little behind, she is already doing very well, especially in maths.

| Paul Muiruri (25-01-2000) Together
with his two sisters, Dorcas and Beth, and his brother Grisson, Paul was
one of the first children taken in by CRC. CRC had tot take them in, because
their mother was terminally ill and couldn’t take care of her children
anymore. Unfortunately their mother died on 27 September 2005. Their father
already passed away some years ago. Paul experienced a lot of hardship
when living in the slums. When Paul came to CRC he was malnourished and
very sick.
Nowadays Paul likes to take care of the chicken. Although he can have
his sad and quiet moments, he seems to be a happy boy.

| Grisson Mucuni (11-11-2000) Together
with his two sisters, Dorcas and Beth, and his brother Paul, Grisson was
one of the first children taken in by CRC. CRC had tot take them in, because
their mother was terminally ill and couldn’t take care of her children
anymore. Unfortunately their mother died on 27 September 2005. Their father
already passed away some years ago. Grisson experienced a lot of hardship
when living in the slums.
In CRC Grisson is pretending to make pies out of sand, pencils or whatever
he finds. He is living life with a semi- permanent smile on his face.

| Catherine Wambui Catherine is a 11yr old happy girl who was physically abused by the mother. She was burnt with hot paraffin, her class teacher noticed the uniform and how she was not looking good. She later reported the matter to the head teacher in the school, St. Patrick’s primary school. The mother was reported to the children’s department Thika and later CRC rescued her. Now Catherine is still going to the same school and doing good and performing very well. She has already been absorbed in CRC family but she still loves her mother so much and therefore the management of CRC is working hard for a future re- union with her mother again/ child relationship.

David is the brother from Francis.
The mother of David and Francis abandoned them in Kiandutu slums, they left with their father who was a drunkard. CRC volunteers and management took the two to their centre.
They ware both infected with Jiggers and lice. They ware in a bad state of help due to poor feeding. They are now happy in CRC. Francis has joined St. Patrick primary school.

Francis Maluki 4-12-2000
Francis is the brother from David.
The mother of David and Francis abandoned them in Kiandutu slums, they left with their father who was a drunkard. CRC volunteers and management took the two to their centre.

Joseph Mwangi
Joseph and his brother Patrick Githiora, Rose Njeri, were abandoned together by their mother in a place called Ngoingwa in the outskirts of Thika town few days after the father was arrested and put to jail. They were left with no one to take care of them for almost a month where they stayed in a shanty house which was in ruins without food and care.
A Good Samaritan noted the situation and reported the matter to Thika children’s office .
CRC management was called for a rescue mission which they did without any hesitation. Mwangi has the brightest smile of all, charming and loved by everyone. Mwangi joins school next year 2008.

Lewis Kioko
Lewis came to CRC when he was 1 ½ years old. He was abandoned in the streets of Thika without trace of his mother or anything for identification. He was named kioko by the management and Lewis by the volunteers by then.
In his first days he used to cry a lot but as days went by he became a big boy always smiling with big eyes. He is now a strong boy and enjoys the company of all people and also loves singing Dutch songs.
Next year Lewis joins school which he loves most.

Lucy Wanjiku 28-8-1995
Lucy came to CRC through the children’s department. She was sexually assaulted by her grandfather. The case is still pending in the land counts. Her case attracts a lot of publicity in the country of which CRC has stopped for the benefit of the child.
She is a clever girl and a good dancer. She joins St. Patrick Primary school in the year 2007.

Margaret Mwihaki
Margaret came to CRC in the year 2006, her mother died in the year 2005 and she was left with her father who was a drunkard as such she was malnutrition and was not attending school.
In their routine rounds in the Kiandutu slums the management and volunteers from CRC discovered her and took her to the center. She is now going to school and very healthy, she is a good singer and plays a lot with other children; she also trains Karate with the rest as an extra curricula activity and self defense.

Mary Njeri
Mary was born in the year 2005 and her mother died in the year 2004 as a result of HIV/AIDS complications. She was left with her father who stayed with her till the year 2007 when she was sexually abused by her father. The father was also HIV positive but luckily Mary was not infected.
Thika district hospital and the officials from the children’s department brought the child to CRC for Rescue. The father was arrested and still in custody in his death bed.
Now Mary is a happy girl going to school healthy living and always with a big smile. She like the company of the CRC Director Mr. Nelson whom she adores so much.

Patrick Githiora
Patrick’s father was arrested as such they were left with their mother who after a few days abandoned them with his sister Rose Njeri and his brother Joseph Mwangi in a place called Ngoingwa in the outskirts of Thika town without anybody to take care of them.
For almost a month they stayed in a shanty house which was in ruins without any food to eat. The bushes surrounded the house and hey stayed in there. A Good Samaritan noted the situation and reported the matter to the children’s office; later the CRC management rescued them to the center. Patrick now goes to school and he is really happy to study. The rest of the children are with him together with the CRC family.

Peninah Nasike 7-3-1995
Peninah is the sister of Edward and Caroline.
The theory went abandoned in Kiganjo village by both parents in the year 2006. Neighbors helped them for a while until they could not manage. A such the case was reported to the children department Thika.
CRC management rescues them and joined the big family. So far Peninah and Caroline have join school and they both like playing karate. In July and august they participated at the national karate championship. They won medals en trophies. For sure they love the game. |
Edward Mawangi 3-11-2003
Edward is the brother of Peninah and Caroline.

Rose Njeri

Winnie Asamula
Winnie a beautiful and humble girl is 16 years old who is an orphan. She was born in the year 1991 and along the way both her parents died due to different ailments.
Later on Winnie was taken away by her Grandmother and was brought to Thika Kiandutu slums where they stayed together and she joined school. Along the way Winnie was being abused physically by the grandmother and several times it was reported to the children’s officer Thika. In the last time CRC took her in since she had to do her exams, she did well and joined a government school, Munyu Girls high school.
Now Winnie is doing okay and in future she would love to be a doctor. She also attends karate sessions as an Extra curricula activity. |
CRC is located in Thika town, about 40 km north of Nairobi, capital of Kenya.
The house is located in Kenya tanning, a beautiful, secure compound with a lot of green and
monkey's in the garden!
We also intend to start income generating projects such as poultry farming,
livestock farming, crop farming and also tour and travel section.
In the same land we intend to build a special school for mentally disabled
children and other with special needs e.g. (ECD)
