Child Rescueing centre International is a non-governmental organization based in Thika, Kenya
Central Province. The centre was officially registrated on 14 October 2004 as a
self help group based in Thika.
Child Rescueing centre International was formed by a team of
dedicated professionals and Social workers with a wide experience in children’s
matters to help and rescue these children and give them a chance in life.
The Child Rescueing centre International deals with orphans, street children, abused children
and children infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which is a national
disaster. Many of these children were abandoned, neglected and abused and some
of them were living in the streets. CRC is offering help to those children and a
place to stay!

if they are given a chance the world truly will continue
Nelson Ndungu
I am Nelson Ndungu 33 yrs old and the founder member of CRC children’s home
social working is my profession .
I hold a diploma in Social working and project management from the Kenya
Institute of social work and community development also I have a diploma in
martial arts 2nd degree black belt from the Karate Federation of Kenya.
Due to HIV/AIDS disaster in Kenya and the growth of slums in Thika and Kenya
in general there is an increase in orphans, vulnerable and street children in
Kenya and Thika in particular, as a result together with friends in Thika we
came together and founded the CRC to rescue the children for before then it was
the work of the police who mixed the children with criminals in the police cells
all in the name of rescue, as a result they were abused physically and sexually
but for now around Thika this is no longer a problem with CRC around. May CRC
spirit live longer.
Aafje Rietveld
I am Aafje Rietveld and I was born 30 years ago in Leiden, a beautiful small
town in the Western part of the Netherlands. Right now I am living with my husband
in The Hague, where I work as a lawyer. When I am in Kenya, I practise karate
together with Nelson, but when I am in the Netherlands I prefer sports like
aerobics and power yoga, which gives me a lot of energy.
I have worked in CRC twice now, the first time in September 2005. Since then
I also have been working as a volunteer for CRC in Netherlands, recruiting volunteers
and helping my fellow board members by advising them every now and then, whenever
they needed my advice. As a board member I will be in charge of volunteer recruitment
and in fact all international matters. And of course do everything else that
is needed, including visiting Thika every now and then.
I strongly believe that children hold the future, in Africa and Kenya maybe
even more than anywhere else, if only because so many parents are dying of HIV/AIDS,
as we speak. CRC makes sure that some of the children of Thika grow up healthy,
happy and educated in order to be able to build this future. CRC gives these
children an opportunity to a good future as an adult and provides a safe home
to be a child until that time comes.
I am proud to be part of that!
