Dear CRCI family

Hamjambo? We are all fine after a struggle in the past two months which were very cold and most of our children got sick ,Rebecca and Jacinta were admitted in St Mulumba mission hospital with respiratory related illness for two weeks they are ok now and everything has gone back to normal .

The schools were closed on 8th August and our children performed very well they will reopen on5th September 2008 ,we are all at home doing a lot of activities children games visiting other children homes our projects and this has proved to be a nice break for the children from school they truly need this time .

The country is now peaceful and secure after the violence that rocked our nation of Kenya we say karibu Kenya hakuna matata you can now visit any part of Kenya without worries and problems.

On the other side, the new house is complete and the only remaining areas are the perimeter fence and furnishing of the house which are underway soon we will make the official opening of the new house with guests from all over Thika and the surrounding areas .

At the new home we have income generating projects going on to supplement our monthly budget , we have chicken project for both layers and broilers that is for eggs and meat sponsored by Willemijn and Clarinda the first lot has been sold out in fact it was a very good beginning , also we have5 milk goats and 3 cows in number sponsored by Clarinda , Mariska, Valentina and Perbo this will help us a great deal when our children will enter the new house .We are also looking for a volunteer who is a specialist in animal husbandry and farming to improve our new projects you can contact Aafje in Holland .

About the other projects in the slums of kiandutu and umoja they are doing well and they have been receiving numerous support from our volunteers as such the slum families have been benefiting with food, medication and education just to mention a few although a lot is still needed to be done since more and more cases has been reported to us and pole pole we are trying to sot out the challenges.

Our children are now 34 in number; we have a new boy Charles 13 years old who escaped from the post election violence in the rift valley province of Kenya. He was brought to our home by the Kenya Red Cross society through thika district children department, he is a determined boy who does not know his families fate, and together with the Red Cross we are doing the investigations.
