“Sponsor a child”-project

Child Rescue Centre (CRC) is a Kenyan non-governmental organisation which provides the children of Thika a fair chance to a better  future. We are not able to do this work without your help! You can help CRC by sponsoring a child or by supporting CRC in general.

The children

Several children will be spending a longer period of time, if not their whole youth in CRC. Most of them are orphans, some were found in the streets or could not stay with their family any longer, because they were in a situation of abuse. Almost all of the CRC- children are referred to CRC by the Children’s Officer. CRC takes care of these children by providing them love, attention and a stable environment to grow up in. Besides that CRC provides the children in their basic material needs, such as secure shelter, food and a good education. To be able to provide all of these needs, we request your help!

Three possibilities to sponsor

You can help the children by sponsoring CRC. There are 3 possibilities to sponsor:

1. “sponsoring a specific child”
   The sponsor will send a fixed amount of money monthly. This will be spend on the child in the way the sponsor and the board of CRC think is best for the child. Since the sponsor can have a lot of influence in the decision making, he/ she has to know the child personally. Apart from the financial ties you can create a very personal contact by sending and receiving pictures, drawings and letters.
    
2. “sponsoring a child without direct contact and authority in decision making”
   If you have never been at CRC, you can contact a person who knows that child already (for example a former volunteer). You can contact this person directly or with help of CRC. This option makes it possible for several persons to sponsor one child, even if they have never met each other nor the child. At the same time important decisions or direct contact with the child will go through a to the child familiar person.
   CRC will keep the sponsor updated on the developments of his/her child regularly (four times a year). If you want to receive the quarterly report on CRC in general, please indicate this on the form.
    
3. “sponsoring CRC in general”
   It is possible to support on a regular base or only once. The sponsor is free to choose the amount of money, which will be spend on monthly costs (food, electricity, etc.), construction and extension of CRC or a short term shelter for children in immediate need of help. An example of a child in a crisis situation is 13-year-old David, who stayed at CRC for approximately ten weeks. He ran away from home, tried to commit suicide and finally the police directed him to CRC. Here, he flourished and in the meantime CRC traced some family members where he could go back to.
   The development of CRC and stories about such short- term cases can be followed by the sponsor through information on the website or through the quarterly report on CRC in general. If you want to receive the quarterly report, please indicate this on the form.
